There will be an execution in Idaho this summer. The state of Idaho has signed a death warrant for Idaho death row inmate Gerald Pizzuto.
The Idaho Attorney General Office says a judge signed off on the warrant on Wednesday. Pizzuto is now scheduled to be executed on June 2nd, the first in Idaho since 2012.
There are some questions about Pizzuto living long enough to face his execution. The Marshall Project reports, Pizzuto is currently in hospice care as he suffers from a form of cancer along with Type 2 diabetes, and a variety of heart and lung issues.
Pizzuto was sent to death row in 1986 after his murder conviction for the 1985 beating deaths of Berta Herndon and her nephew Del Herndon, at a remote Idaho County cabin where they were prospecting.
