Moose Fire grows to over 37,000 acres

The Moose Fire, now over 37,000 acres, is burning in the Salmon-Challis National Forest about 17 miles north of Salmon, Idaho.

Fire managers estimate the blaze is currently only 15% contained as it burns in hreavy grass and timber.

The fire started on July 17th and the cause is still unknown.

Firefighters continue with structure protection efforts in the Spring Creek area, Moose Creek drainage, the Highway 93 corridor, and other locations.

The outlook for fighting the fire today in less than ideal, with some wind and more hot and dry weather ahead thru the weekend.
